I Exist
by Nicole Hartsell
I exist.
Yet, you do not observe me.
I await the dawning of recognition,
A dormant amaranth in your ceaseless midnight.
A primordial chalice spilling forth libation,
to sate your carnal appetite.
See me...
I exist,
Yet, you do not heed my oration.
Subsisting on the meager nourishment of faith alone
that you should deign to possess this vessel of devotion.
Yielding flesh of a woman prone
to the whim of man, your slightest notion.
Hear me...
I exist,
Yet, you do not feel me.
Void of your demanding caress,
sans your heated embrace
I can only covet in the confines of duress.
If only for but a mom

Caught her by her hair checked for the watchful eye of her mother
She lay in bed with Somnus her daughter's brother
I took her down laid her head by the trees
The soft morning streams struggled against her screams
A wonderful smile etched across her face
Beauty and reason and justice exploded without a trace
I held her so close she slipped through my skin
I found an empty hollow and laid her body within
For one night I prayed like a virgin in heat
When the sun swallowed the moon I rose from the peat
